Ebike
May 2023
PART 1: With my school on a hill and bus service being slow, the only logical option to improve my high school commute was to build a 350W Ebike from some dude’s old bike from the 90’s that he sold to me for 90$. I used a conversion kit from Envo that I honestly got scammed on. The motor controller I received was different from their website and that caused a headache. All things said, I wasn’t able to solve this in part one. PART 2: After learning about the pins I had to bridge in the motor controller (ended up just buying the display module to not have to do janky soldering) as well as figuring out that I had to rewire the throttle to properly provide the control signal, the Ebike worked. It took so long to figure these quirks out but when I did it was so rewarding. To this day the Ebike still runs, I used it on campus during my second year at McGill. It has 3,500+km on it and I don’t plan on buying a new one anytime soon.
